The Plum regulator stabilizes a given water set point temperature for the VG boilers’ cycle and stabilizes a given temperature of the hot utility water tank. Accordingly, the system controls the combustion fan and circulators by monitoring the flue gas and water temperatures.
VG boilers have been designed to heat hot water and charge a thermal storage tank; therefore, look at the image top RHS. The boilers achieve a maximum outlet temperature of 90 °C and a maximum allowable operation pressure of 3 bar gauge. Return water temperatures must not be lower than 60°C. These boilers suit high-quality wood (log) with water content between 15% to 20%. Minimize log breadth to 120mm for better air distribution. This boiler suits open vented expansion vessel heating systems. The system must have a matching expansion system. The installation should ensure that the open vented expansion vessel and pipes are protected against frost and that no manual valves exist between the boiler and expansion tank.
