Caria Pellet Boiler installed at Maldon Victoria

The Caria series pellet boilers are controlled by an Ecomax24, this controller tracks and monitors the operations of the boiler. The controller also uploads these metrics to the econet24 website and application where you are able track past activity, see current operation of the boiler system, set burn schedules and many other settings A Caria series 23kW pellet boiler has now been installed and secondly commissioned at Maldon in country Victoria. Heating calculations indicate 23kW is required. A 300 litre Buffer Tank is being installed, charged by an LK810 charging valve by LK Armatur the Swedish hydronic specialist and long time partner to Kroll Heaters. https://www.lkarmatur.com/en/ Circulation to the radiators is with the latest DAB EVOPLUS LITE 120/180 25. https://kroll-heaters.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/50240034_EVOPLUS-LITE_CL_ENG_DOC_web_Copy_2-scaled.jpg

Commissioning Complete August 2026

Although there were some minor leaks, the team installed the Caria CP23 without major hassles. Subsequently the technician programmed the buffer tank to fill the 300l thermal storage tank top to bottom with hot water at 82’C accordingly following the Caria user guide. Accordingly the owner will start the boiler remotely using the Econet24 smartphone application. The owner’s house thermostat will enable the DAB pump to send water to the house radiator network. Additionally, the owner reports that afterwords the home heated up quickly once they heated the tank as a result of the commissioning. In conclusion the owner now has a warm home able to be remotely warmed prior to visiting.

Kroll’s Kozy Workshop Waste Oil Heater

Kroll Kozy

Workshop Waste Oil HeaterOur European made Kozy heats workshops and spaces in any size area up to 300m2 or more and uses 3 litres of waste oil per hour on low and 5 litres per hour on high. Your Kozy includes its own powerful blower fan. This means it effectively heats spaces and takes the chill off the air throughout your building. You don’t need to huddle around the heater to get warm, and you don’t have to position it centrally.

You can place it tucked away in the corner or against a wall. See the ‘Kozy’ video below:

Long Life

You can expect your Kozy to have a long trouble-free life. The first Kozys installed back in 1982 are still going strong. Compared to other types of heaters, your Kroll Kozy will pay for itself in just one or two winters. Once you’ve got one, you’ll be happy!

Installation is Easy

The operator’s manual explains the simple guidelines for erecting the stainless steel flue. A ‘T’ piece with embedded regulator is supplied. You can find the T piece at the lower end of the flue locally ‘off the shelf’, or we are happy to supply everything you need. It typically consists of about 5 metres of flue, with a hat on top.

Maintenance

The Kozy is not “high tech”. To start it, you pour a cup of kero or diesel into the cast iron pan at the bottom of the Kozy, light a scrunched-up A4 paper sheet into a ball, light it, and drop it onto the pan. After about ten minutes, an internal thermostat automatically starts the oil pump and the blower fan. The system trickles waste oil into the hot pan, where it vapourises into a gas and burns very cleanly. When you burn waste oil in a Kroll, you see no smoke or fumes. The emissions remain very clean and have been tested by an EPA approved company, well within EPA requirements. The contaminants in waste oil, such as carbon, dirt, and detergents, break down in the 750o C temperature of the furnace, to a dry crusty ash, which accumulates in the cast iron pan and needs removal each day.

Your Kozy includes two pans. At start-up, use the clean one. At a convenient time, clean yesterday’s pan, ready for tomorrow’s use. The amount of ash you get depends on the nature of the oil; for example, very thick black oil from old diesel engines leaves more ash, while transmission oils leave almost none. A bit of water in the oil doesn’t worry your Kozy at all. Most commonly, oil from petrol engine vehicles or a combination of waste oils generates lots of heat and minimal ash. You’ll spend about ten minutes a day looking after your Kroll Kozy.

Wouldn’t you agree, it’s a small inconvenience to pay for the advantage of heating with free fuel?

German made Waste Oil Burner Gun

The German made EMB Series waste oil burner provides a broad range of power outputs.

The operation sequence pumps fuel out of the special Kroll day tank and into the burner tank. A float switch controls the level inside the burner tank and supplies power to an oil pump on the day tank. Another float switch (overflow protection) serves as a limiter, which switches to fault if the tank is overfilled.

A thermostat sets the oil temperature in the burner pre-heater tank and starts the burner when the set point temperature is reached.

Also, the automatic burner control system monitors the operation of the burner and provides diagnostics to the user. A special nozzle aspirates and finely atomises the fuel using the compressed air flowing into the nozzle[s]. Therefore, the compressed air serves as primary air for the combustion process.

The burner blower supplies the secondary air, which mixes with the atomised spray at the baffle plate. This ensures full combustion and operational reliability.

Also, at an oil temperature in excess of 150° C, the safety switch automatically de-energises the burner. The Siemens controller displays diagnostics. These burners mount to air furnaces like the Kroll SZ series or heat water in a hydronic boiler [water heater]. How to Find the Best Hydronic Wood Gasification Boilers in 2026

Hydronic wood fired boilers are back in the trend, and finding the right one for your home or office that suits your needs can be a bit tricky. Homeowners and office managers favor hydronic boilers over steam boilers due to their ease of use and lower risks of accidents and injuries. Unlike steam boilers, hydronic boilers have low maintenance costs and are slightly cheaper. If you want to buy a wood hydronic boiler, Australian manufacturers and suppliers offer a wide range of sizes and types. We have created a guide on how to find the best wood hydronic boiler:

https://kroll-heaters.com.au/waste-oil-boilers/wood-boiler-kk-series/

Capacity:

It’s important to determine how much floor space you intend to cover. Most wood boilers work well for a standard-sized home with three bedrooms. If you have different requirements, you might need to opt for a custom-made boiler. Kroll builds state-of-the-art boilers to meet all types of requirements, whether industrial or personal.

Safety:

Although wood boilers generally provide more safety compared to other boilers, they can still pose serious health hazards, especially for homes with kids and pets. Pay close attention to the safety provisions of a wood boiler. Consult the manufacturer to learn best practices for using them.

Fuel-efficiency:

Wood hydronic boilers in Australia are not particularly known for their fuel efficiency, but you should still make efforts to find models that are fuel-efficient. Wood can be expensive and hard to procure and store, so the efficiency of wood-fueled boilers is crucial to avoid becoming a part-time lumberjack! Kroll offers a range of accessories that you can attach to our hydronic boilers to customize them fully.

Accessories:

Although hydronic boilers don’t require additional accessories like steam boilers (which need a pump to function), you might still want to consider any additional accessories you may need based on your requirements. It’s important that the boiler you buy can function with the accessory you plan to use.

Legal compliance:

Some countries have enacted comprehensive laws to regulate all types of boilers, including steam and hydronic boilers. If you are getting a custom-made boiler for your place, be sure to check the relevant laws governing boilers, if any.

We have outlined the key factors that make a perfect wood hydronic boiler. At Kroll, we pay close attention to detail and invest significant time and money in all our boiler designs to ensure you receive a product that is 100% customized to your requirements.
